Applications
There are four major types of downlights;
LED Lights fall into two major categories:
1) Recessed Downlights are the most popular type and is often used in residential buildings, hotels, and office buildings with concealed installation. The front of the fitting which is parallel to the ceiling will be visible and will blend in with the ceiling design or can be used with a decorative bezel to make a statement.
2) Surface Downlights is a type commonly used in homes or commercial buildings where recessed ceiling installation is not possible, for example in concrete ceilings. The body of the fitting is clearly visible after installation. Surface downlights are also used as the main area lighting luminaires. As they are visible the design can vary from simple to decorative to suit the interior design.
3) Pendant Luminaires are mainly chosen for aesthetic purposes to accentuate the interior design and can vary in style from modern to more traditional. The body is very prominent and is installed by hanging from the ceiling. In addition to the various styles there are also varying light distributions that can be suitable for decorative effects while providing functional illumination at the same time.
4) Semi Recessed Downlight are partially installed into the ceiling and has an increased visual impact on a room. Suitable for projects that like to see a feature ceiling.
